There are three anglican churches (Church in Wales) in the Area – Cantref, Llanfrynach and Llanhamlach – covering broadly similar areas to the Community Council wards. These three churches operate jointly with three churches surrounding Talybont-on-Usk as the ‘Beacons Benefice’. The churches and their ministry are available to anyone who lives in or visits the Area – not just people who attend church regularly on Sundays.
The locations of the three church buildings are shown on the Map. These are Cantref (St. Cynidr and St Mary), Llanfrynach (St Brynach) and Llanhamlach (St Peter and St Illtyd). The churches around Talybont are located at Llanfeugan, Llansantffraed and Llanddetty. Family services are held in the Henderson Hall in Talybont.
There is a service in one of the three churches in the Area each Sunday, and an informal family service in the Henderson Hall once a month. Click here for the Services webpage on the Beacons Benefice website where you can find the current list of times and locations of services. Whether you come regularly or only occasionally, the churches are part of the community and its heritage, and everyone is always welcome.
The Priest in Charge, Reverend Kelvin Richards, leads a ministry team covering 11 churches in the Beacons Benefice and the neighbouring parish of Llyn Safaddan. Any enquiries about matters related to the Beacons Benefice or a particular church should be addressed to either the Priest in Charge – Revd.
